A depraved cult who worship the god Uranus engage in all kinds of debauched carnal activities. Sure, this film suffers from hit or miss acting and a sidesplitting surplus of goofy chanting ("Enter my dark passage"), but man does this barely hour long hardcore grinder deliver on the freaky deaky kinky sex: One gal has a lit candle sticking out of her can, two lascivious ladies discover the joys of their vaginas, we've got oodles of oily naked babes, and, best of all, several women take it in their poopers like troopers. Moreover, the floating cinematography is pretty impressive considering the slight budget, there's lots of great time capsule footage of seedy 70's streets, foxy blonde Vivian Parks adds plenty of sizzle as eager newbie Sarah, and the funky-throbbing score hits the get-down groovy spot. Fans of down'n'dirty vintage 70's sin cinema should really dig this one.

Occasionally unintentionally amusing

No director wanted credit for this, and it's easy to see why. Cult members wearing hugely over-sized Moroccan djellabas hand out fliers to random passersby, trying to recruit them into a sex Cult, led by a voice coming from a cheap speaker phone, and the film follows a naïve girl who signs on for the ride.

The dialogue in this zero budget sex flick sounds ad-libbed, and possibly recorded without a boom mic, as much of it is either too low of volume, or just undecipherable mumbling.

Some sources list Zebedy Colt as director, and if that's correct, that means his next flick, 1977's The Devil Inside Her, was a step down, as this is at least occasionally unintentionally funny, and lead girl Angel Ducharme is cute enough to keep my attention for this film's brief (56 minutes-long) run time.

Bizarre blend of porn and horror has a group of what looks like Satanists worshiping Uranus and this leads to various women being brought in for sexual sacrifices.

THE RITES OF URANUS is another low-budget porn film that probably had a handful of people actually see it back when it was released. I'm sure those legendary stories we've heard about the dangerous 42nd Street is exactly where this played probably sometime after all the druggies would have been in the theater. As far as the film goes, it's okay but certainly nothing special. There are some unintentional laughs that help keep the film moving at a nice pace. The rituals are all rather amusing to say the least but the costumes are laughable. At just 59-minutes there's certainly nothing great here but it's decent for its kind.

A deliberately silly XXX flick about a Satanic-type cult involved in all kinds of sleazy activities. It's not badly made, it has some funny bits, and there's actually something resembling a plot. Good fun if you're in the mood for this kind of thing.
